Christine Siegler Pearson Building

The Duke University School of Nursing opened a 58,000-square-foot facility at 307 Trent Drive in July 2006 to accommodate the growth of its academic programs. The building includes laboratories, classrooms, and faculty and administrative offices, as well as beautiful hospitality and auditorium spaces equipped with the latest technology. Open, comfortable, interactive common spaces encourage conversation and collaboration among students, faculty, staff, and visitors. In 2011, the Executive Committee of the Duke Board of Trustees approved the naming of the facility as the Christine Siegler Pearson Building. The building’s name honors the philanthropic commitment of J. Michael Pearson and Christine Siegler Pearson, who donated $15 million to the School. Their gift represents the largest single donation Duke University School of Nursing has ever received. The building was designed by Ayers/Saint/Gross, Architects and Planners of Baltimore, Maryland, and was awarded the Honor Award for Excellence in Design from the Baltimore Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The structure has also received the designation of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver by the United States Green Building Council. It is the fourth building at Duke to earn this designation. The building's "green" elements fall under the following LEED categories: Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation and Design.
