Transformative

At the Duke University School of Nursing, preparing for the nursing profession involves the active transformation of knowledge into practice.

Academic Programs. As our students and faculty engage in collaborative learning, personal pathways open to expanded opportunities in the field of nursing. The curricula for Duke’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), and PhD in Nursing degree programs are based on the conviction that knowledge is meant to be used in service to our communities and the world. Post-doctoral and certificate programs facilitate on-going education and research within the field of nursing. In 2011, US News and World Report ranked Duke among the top 7 graduate schools of nursing in the nation.

Center for Nursing Discovery. In the Center for Nursing Discovery (CND), DUSON students use high-fidelity adult and pediatric mannequins in a simulated clinical setting to learn crucial patient-care skills. The CND harnesses the latest advances in technology to take nursing instruction beyond the classroom so that learners can ultimately become clinical leaders in providing excellent patient care.

Research. Duke University School of Nursing faculty members and students are actively involved in research that translates evidence into practical knowledge that the broader nursing profession can use in response to current and future health-care challenges.

Duke Translational Nursing Institute. Duke University School of Nursing partners with the Duke University Health System to test new designs for care delivery and to promote the use of evidence to develop best practices in health care.
