Overview


Dr. Hendrix is Associate Professor (tenured) and Division Chair of the Health Systems and Analytics at Duke University School of Nursing. Her program of research and scholarly activities focus on developing and implementing interventions to train and support family and friends (caregivers) of older adults in home-based care.  She leads the Duke Elder Family/Caregiver Training Center that offers enhanced hospital discharge preparation to caregivers of older adults. Dr. Hendrix also nurse investigator/researcher at the Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center at the Durham VA Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Hendrix holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, a Master of Science in Nursing as a family nurse practitioner (MSN-FNP) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a Doctor of Nursing Science (DNS) from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. She completed a post-master’s gerontological nurse practitioner (GNP) certificate at Duke University School of Nursing. In 2015, Dr. Hendrix was inducted as Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN). In 2016, she received the Outstanding Thomasian Alumni (TOTAL) award, the highest award given by the University of Santo Tomas, Manila Philippines to its exceptional graduates.
