Kathy Turner teaches core courses in the ABSN Program including: Adult Health Nursing; Leadership, Management, and Contemporary Issues in Nursing; and the Nursing Specialty Synthesis course which provides a tailored precepted clinical experience for each student during the final semester.

Dr. Turner earned her BSN at the University of Vermont and her MSN (Nursing Administration) and DNP at the Duke University School of Nursing. She has over twenty-five years of experience in adult health and critical care. Kathy has held numerous managerial and leadership positions: Assistant Head Nurse, Nurse Manager, Clinical Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist. She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau International.

Seven Duke University School of Nursing (DUSON) faculty graduated from doctor of nursing (DNP) degree programs this spring, bringing the number of doctorally-prepared full-time regular-rank faculty to seventy-two out of a total of seventy-nine. This represents an increase of doctorally-prepared faculty from seventy-seven percent in 2010 to ninety-one percent in 2012.
