The Office of Global and Community Health Initiatives (OGACHI) provides academic enrichment programs for health professionals and scholars interested in enhancing their research skills or expertise in a particular clinical or non-clinical specialty.
The International Visiting Scholars Program gives visitors the opportunity to work alongside Duke University School of Nursing’s (DUSON) highly-ranked faculty on a tailored research project to expand their knowledge in an area of nursing to enhance health care settings at home.
In addition to the visiting scholars program, clinicians may also join DUSON for a two-week clinical observation experience with the Duke University Health System. Most requests for clinical observations come from health professionals who are enrolled in a PhD program or postdoctoral program at institutions of higher learning in their home countries, usually in the field of nursing.
Neither program carries academic credit nor results in a degree from Duke University.
All visitors must provide proof of English language proficiency to apply for any program at DUSON.
