Café Duson offers a casual dining menu with a variety of “grab-n-go” items. Additionally, guests can also choose the hot entrée of the day, a cold beverage or dessert item. And because it’s a café, patrons can even get a hot espresso beverage or a traditional cup of freshly brewed coffee.
Duke School of Nursing put a lot of thought into their café space. It’s very modern, yet functional. The counter tops are smooth and curved and easy to maneuver around. The seating area is spacious and quite comfortable. Jewel-toned fabrics and high back chairs with swing arm ledges are very conducive to studying. Lots of light shines through the two story atrium adding to the cozy feel of the place.
With a wonderful grand opening event and a great first week of business under their belts, the Holland’s have come back for more. Shawn and Jeanine are very excited to have been selected as the Café Duson vendor. They both have an extensive hospitality background and are eager to share that expertise with not only the Duke School of Nursing family, but with the entire Duke and Durham community.
They acknowledge it may take a few weeks for the dust to settle, but they encourage their guests to be patient and to be honest. They really want to know what everyone thinks about the food and the service. As graduates of Johnson & Wales University, one of the nation’s premier culinary schools, both Shawn and Jeanine are very service driven. They say it’s important not only to provide a quality product, but also to provide great customer service.
The Holland’s commented that the School of Nursing leadership treated them with great service as well. Mr. Mitchell Vann and Mr. David Bowersox took great care to make sure that every detail was attended to. “They were both great to work with and very thorough. This project could not have run more smoothly.” said Shawn Holland. Mrs. Holland agreed that the School of Nursing has been very committed to Café Duson from the very beginning and they look forward to being a part of the School of Nursing community at Duke University for many years to come.
