Clinical Research Management Specialty

Today's clinical research environment provides extensive opportunities for nurses who desire to expand their basic knowledge of nursing and health care into project leadership and management roles in pharmaceutical research and development.

The Duke University School of Nursing's MSN specialty in clinical research management (CRM) prepares nurses for research leadership by building upon their existing health care background, communication and critical thinking skills, and understanding of the clinical research environment.

Academic research centers and the pharmaceutical and medical device industries need properly educated and qualified individuals to translate new clinical research into improved health care.

Our multidisciplinary curriculum provides graduates with the critical knowledge needed to lead and support future clinical research initiatives.

Health care professionals with advanced degrees from fields outside of nursing may complete a specialty course curriculum to obtain a postgraduate academic certificate in clinical research management. A post-master's certificate is available for applicants who have already earned the MSN.

The CRM program is comprehensive, totally online, and includes courses on clinical trial design and protocol development, business and financial management regulatory affairs, data management, and scientific writing.
