DNP Alumna Hubbell Receives AANP State Award for Excellence

DNP alumna Sara Hubbell is the recipient of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) 2017 State Award for Excellence and will be honored at an awards ceremony and reception held during the AANP 2017 National Conference this summer in Philadelphia, PA.

The State Award for Nurse Practitioner Excellence, founded in 1991, recognizes a nurse practitioner in a state who demonstrates excellence in practice. In 1993, the State Award for Nurse Practitioner Advocate was added to recognize the efforts of individuals who have made a significant contribution toward increasing awareness and recognition of NPs.

Hubbell is a family nurse practitioner and assistant professor who teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her bachelors and masters degrees from Chapel Hill. Hubbell is the immediate past chair of the Nurse Practitioner Council of the North Carolina Nurses Association and is heavily involved in legislative initiatives that affect care provided by nurse practitioners to North Carolina residents.
