DNP alumna Lisa Seldon, Barbara Turner and Leigh Ann Simmons published an article entitled "Evaluation of a Hospital-Based Pneumonia Nurse Navigator Program" in the December issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration. Dr. Kelly McDonough for Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA was another co-author of the article. The article is based off Seldon's DNP capstone.

Abstract: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a hospital-based pneumonia nurse navigator program. The pneumonia nurse navigator program may improve core measures, reduce ALOS, and increase net revenue. Future evaluations are necessary to substantiate these findings and optimize the cost and quality performance of navigator programs.
