Felsman Completes Teach Global Health Summer Institute

Irene Felsman was one of 75 faculty and administrative colleagues from around the world to complete the Teach Global Health: 2017 Summer Institute for Undergraduate Course Development and Curriculum Design. The intensive undergraduate global health symposium was designed to bring together faculty at undergraduate-serving institutions to evaluate curricular programs and assessment tools, participate in charrettes designed to refine course and curriculum materials that strengthen students' learning, and share experiences and best practices.

Participants engaged in four areas critical to undergraduate global health efforts for the Summer Institute. Each of the four primary workshop themes were grounded in best professional practices: assignment design, course development within coherent undergraduate global health curricular initiatives, the effective use of assessment and evaluation, and how to employ experiential learning more effectively in global health programming.

The Summer Institute was held in collaboration with the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), Child Family Health International (CFHI), the Consortium of Universities of Global Health (CUGH), the Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA), and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI).  Financial support for this symposium was provided by HHMI and by Allegheny College, Meadville PA, who also hosted this workshop.
