Kennel and Rushing Graduate from Duke Leadership Academy

Phyllis Kennel and Ernie Rushing recently graduated from the Duke University Leadership Academy. The academy is a 12-month program that offers emerging leaders from across the university the opportuntiy to participate in a unique development initiative based on teh Fuqua/Coach K Center for Leadership & Ethics leadership model. The curriculum includes a focus on leadership and management styles and behaviors to implement strategy.

Kennel and Rushing were two of 26 graduates of the 2016 cohort. This year's cohort was divided into four Action Learning Teams and each team provided case studies on "Duke and Durham Transportation," "Enhancing Duke Benefits with Concierge Services," Mentoring at Duke," and "Duke-Sponsored Volunteer Programs."

Participation in the program is highly selective based on nominations by Duke's vice presidents and deans. Academy participants are exposed to senior level leaders and stakeholders at Duke. Learning takes place in the classroom, through 360 individual assessments, practical application and coaching.

Congratulations Phyllis and Ernie!
