McConnell Selected for Membership of the NC Alzheimer’s Coalition

Eleanor McConnell was recently to be a member of the newly created North Carolina Alzheimer's Coalition. This coalition was created in response to Recommendation 3.4 of the State Plan directing the Division of Aging and Adult Services to establish statewide coordinated leadership to oversee the State Plan on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

The coalition will meet three times per year and is charged with the following responsibilities:

  • to serve in an advisory capacity to the NC DAAS regarding the NC Alzheimer’s State Plan;
  • to oversee the coordination of implementing recommendations contained within the NC Alzheimer’s State Plan, including prioritization of the 33 recommendations within the Plan;
  • to provide support to other workgroups charged with implementation of specific recommendations; and
  • to report progress on implementation of the Plan annually to the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and the NC General Assembly
