Marilyn Oermann published an article entitled "Towards an Evidence-Based Methodology for High-Stakes Evaluation of Nursing Student's Clinical Performance Using Simulation" in the October issue of the Teaching & Learning in Nursing. Co-authors include Suzan Kardong-Edgren fro Robert Morris University and Mary Rizzolo for National League for Nursing.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to explore the feasibility of developing scenarios for high-stakes evaluation of students' clinical performance. We used video recordings of graduating nursing students performing in these scenarios. This article shares the findings of the study and challenges we encountered with using simulation for high-stakes evaluation.

In addition, Oermann recently presented on "Evaluation in and of Nursing Courses: Some Ideas for Consideration" at the University of Colorado School of Nursing in Aurora, Colorado. She also conducted a consultation of faculty.

Oermann also provided a continuing education program on "Evidence to Guide Your Teaching and Assessment in Nursing Education" sponsored by the Association of Diploma Schools of Professional Nursing.
