Six PhD Students Receive Graduate-level Awards

Six students with the PhD program recently received various graduate-level awards:

  • Latefa Dardas, Brittney Sullivan and Kaboni Gondwe were awarded the International Dissertation Travel Award from Duke's Graduate School. Each will receive $2,000 and the award provides funding for PhD students to travel outside of the United States in order to conduct pre-dissertation or dissertation research.
  • Gondwe was also awarded the Aleane Webb Dissertation Research Award for $320.
  • Tara Mann was awarded a Duke University Doctoral Degree Scholarship Training Grant in Cancer Nursing for $30,000.
  • Dominique Bulgin and Shaoqing Ge were awarded a fieldwork grant for $5,000 to support her fieldwork activities for the Global Health Doctoral Certificate program. The award will support travel, room and board, supplies and other expenses related to the research experiences proposed for the summer of 2016 and 2017.
