Q: What would people be surprised to know about you?

A: I am a third generation nurse on both sides.

Q: What is a cause you're passionate about?

A: I am passionate about delivering compassionate, high-quality care to remote, isolated communities across Canada's north.

Q: Tell us about a project, service group or organization that you are involved with at DUSON, Duke University or in the community.

A: My capstone project was focused on delivering high quality care to remote communities through the use of telehealth technologies. I live in a rural community that serves many remote communities. Prior to my project, the patients from three of the most remote communities traveled over three hours one way to access care in my clinic. With the telehealth technology, they were able to see a provider in their home community.

Q: What have you learned (or are learning) that's made a difference to you?

A: I have learned how to design a quality improvement project in order to get it recognized and make the positive changes in the delivery of care that are necessary to ensure the sustainability of a health system that I am proud of.

Q: How does your nursing degree fit into your life's plans?

A: Nursing is in my blood. I love what I do and it shows. I am passionate about my job and my patients. I work hard to ensure my patients get the quality of care we all deserve.
