Vacchiano Presents at AANA Congress and SC Association of Nurse Anesthetists Meeting

Charles “Chuck” Vacchiano recently presented at two nurse anesthetist meetings. In early September, he presented and co-authored an oral and poster presentation entitled “Anesthesia Emergence Phenomenon in Military Patients: An Instrument Development Study” at the 2016 American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Annual Congress in Washington, D.C. The three-year TriService Nursing Research Program funded study, which included former DUSON faculty member Linda Davis, resulted in development of a population-specific, valid, reliable instrument to measure emergence delirium following anesthesia in military patients.

In late September, he presented three podium presentations entitled “Now You See Them, Now You Don’t: The Case for Fast-Tracking Ambulatory Surgery Patients,” “Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: A Potential Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing,” and “Perioperative Fluid Therapy: Fact, Fiction, Findings and the Future” at the South Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists 65th Annual Meeting in Kiawah Island, S.C.
