Chuck Vacchiano submitted a Geneva Foundation proposal for a subcontract to a TSNRP application entitled "Measuring Emergence Delirium in the Wounded Warrior: An Emerging Problem." This proposal requests funding for a two-year period with a start date of March 1, 2013. The proposal is to mentor COL Madeline Dunnihoo, a CRNA from the Army Nurse Corps, US Army, in conducting research to define the behaviors associated with postoperative emergence delirium in the active duty military members who have suffered combat related injuries, correlate these behaviors to existing measures of delirium in civilian patients, and examine the feasibility of using a such tool to measure emergence delirium in the military operating room and postanesthesia care unit. Dr. Linda Davis is an Associate Investigator on the grant and provided her phenomenological expertise to the study.
