Overview


Alison Edie is a Family Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in the primary care of under served populations. She earned her BSN from the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing in 1984 and her MSN from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in 1991. She completed her DNP at Georgia Southern University School of Nursing in May 2012. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties and Sigma Theta Tau. She is an American Association of Nurse Practitioner fellow.

Dr. Edie’s interests are in understanding the issues and concerns of vulnerable populations with a focus on self-efficacy and health promotion practices of women and adolescents. She has extensive clinical experience providing care to women and children in health departments and community health centers. Before joining the DUSON faculty, she practiced and conducted clinical trials at Duke in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Allergy and Immunology. Since 2006, she has served as a clinical instructor and assistant professor at the Duke University School of Nursing. She teaches primarily in the MSN program, chairs DNP projects and serves as lead faculty for the Family Nurse Practitioner Program.
