Our keynote speaker is Ann Burgess, DNSc, APRN, BC, FAAN, Professor of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing at Boston College, Connell School of Nursing and Professor Emerita from the University of Pennsylvania.

The Harriet Cook Carter annual lectureship was endowed to commemorate the contributions of Harriet Cook Carter, a friend of the School, whose community service enriched the lives of Durham residents. The purpose of the lecture is to provide an opportunity for a scholar to address an important contemporary issue for a broad audience of faculty, students, and members of the Duke and Durham communities.
