Center for Nursing Research Releases Research Areas of Excellence White Paper

The Center for Nursing Research recently released a white paper entitled "Research Areas of Excellence" prepared by Marilyn Hockenberry, Constance Johnson, Isaac Lipkus, Wei Pan, and Allison Vorderstrasse.

In the 14 page document, the team covers everything from guiding principles, research areas of excellence, clinical innovation, population health and chronic illness, methods and analytics and more.

Docherty and Colleagues Publish Article in Western Journal of Nursing Research & She Presents as Conway Research Scholar

Sharron Docherty, Debra Brandon, Allison Vorderstrasse, and Constance Johnson published an article entitled "Visualization of Multidimensional Data in Nursing Science" in the Western Journal of Nursing Research.

Docherty was also invited as a Conway Research Scholar to present at multidisciplinary workshops on mixed-methods and case study methodologies for the Children's National Medical Center.

2017 Harriet Cook Carter Lecture Looks Into Predicting & Preventing Disease With Precision Health

Duke University School of Nursing (DUSON) and Duke University Health System Clinical Education & Professional Development will host the 2017 Harriet Cook Carter Lecture on Monday, February 13, 2017, from 3 to 5:45 p.m. at the Mary Trent Semans Center – Great Hall. The keynote speaker is Janet Williams, PhD, RN, FAAN, professor of Nursing and chair of the Behavioral and Social Science IRB for The University of Iowa.

Message from the Dean: Appointment of Term Chairs

It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of two term chairs in the School of Nursing which have recently received Board of Trustees approval. Previously Dr. Gilliss, as chair of the Distinguished Professors Committee, sent out two emails and then presented yesterday in FGA regarding the process used to select the individuals. Their terms are July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2020 and are not renewable. In Fall of 2019, the DP committee will again recommend to me, and I to the Provost, two more individuals to be appointed as holders of the Term Chairs.

Pereira, Kreider and Vorderstrasse Publish Article in Diabetes Educator

Katherine Pereira, Kathryn Evans Kreider and Allison Vorderstrasse published an article entitled "Diabetes Self-management Training in Virtual Environment" in the June issue of the Diabetes Educator. Co-authors include Constance Johnson and experts from the University of Connecticut School of Nursing, New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing, Yale School of Nursing and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing.
