Carter Appointed Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion

Duke University School of Nursing (DUSON) recently announced the appointment of Brigit Carter, PhD, MSN, RN, CCRN, as its first Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion (ADDI).

The role of Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion was created to strengthen and enhance the diverse community. DUSON’s core values actively promote diversity, inclusion and the valuing of differences that exist in the community.

Brigit M. Carter, PhD, MSN, RN, CCRN

Dr. Carter joined the School of Nursing in 2010 and teaches Pediatrics and Professional Nursing in the ABSN program. She earned her BSN at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) in 1998, a Master’s of Science in Nursing Education from University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2002 and PhD in Nursing from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009. She continues her clinical practice as a staff nurse in the Duke University Medical Center Intensive Care Nursery, where she has 16 years’ experience.
