Adams Receives NIH National Research Service Award

PhD student Judith Adams, with mentors Chip Bailey, associate professor; Ruth Anderson, Virginia Stone Professor of Nursing; and James Tulsky, received an award for her NIH National Research Service Award application entitled "Family Perceptions of Nursing Strategies to Facilitate End-of-Life Decisions." This award supports stipend and fellowship expenses for two years with a start date of August 1, 2012.

Adams Presents at 2012 State of the Science Congress on Nursing Research

PhD student Judith Adams gave a podium presentation entitled "Finding Your Way Through End-of-Life Challenges in the ICU: Adaptive Strategies That Work with Families" at the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science 2012 State of the Science Congress on Nursing Research in Washington, D.C., September 13-15. She co-authored the abstract with Ruth Anderson, Virginia Stone Professor of Nursing, and Chip Bailey, associate professor.

Duke Professors Inducted as Fellows in the American Academy of Nursing

Duke University School of Nursing professors Donald "Chip" Bailey Jr. and Paula Tanabe were inducted, along with Mary Ann Fuchs, DNP, RN, FAAN, vice president of patient care and system chief nurse executive for the Duke University Health System, into the Fellowship of the American Academy of Nursing during a formal ceremony on Saturday, October 13, in Washington, D.C. Being inducted as a Fellow is one of the highest honors in the nation a nurse can receive.

Bailey Presents at 2012 State of the Science Congress on Nursing Research

Chip Bailey presented a poster entitled "Fatigue, Cognitive Function, and Sleep Quality in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis C (CHC)" at the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science 2012 State of the Science Congress on Nursing Research in Washington, D.C., September 13-15. He co-authored the abstract with Shelly Epps, Trina Walker, Justin Levens, Karin Weissenborn, Richard Keefe, and Hans L. Tillmann.
