Duke Representation at NONPF 38th Annual Meeting

A cadre of Duke faculty presented at the 38th National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) Annual Meeting themed "Revolutionary Ideas and Nurse Practitioner Education" April 12–15 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Associate Professor Valerie Sabol gave a podium presentation entitled "Incorporating Obesity Education into Adult Primary and Acute Care NP Programs" during the Curriculum Topics concurrent session.

Bettger, Titch Named DUSON Teaching Fellows for 2013-2014

Drs. Janet Prvu Bettger and Frank Titch have been selected as DUSON Teaching Fellows for 2013-2014. The Teaching Fellowship program at DUSON recognizes the importance of teaching, advances the pedagogical expertise of faculty, and provides opportunities for select faculty to continually develop that expertise in ways that will have a significant impact on the practice and science of nursing education.

Day Named 2013 Macy Faculty Scholar

The Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation has selected Lisa Day, PhD, RN, CNRN, CNE, as a 2013 Macy Faculty Scholar. Dr. Day, an assistant professor at the Duke University School of Nursing, will devote her two-year fellowship to advancing inter-professional education by designing a course on professional values, including standards of compassion, empathy and service for nursing and medical students. The Macy Faculty Scholars program, initiated in 2010, is designed to identify and nurture the careers of educational innovators in medicine and nursing.
