  • Congratulations to Marilyn Hockenberry who received an award for her St. Jude’s R01 subcontract proposal entitled “Web-based physical activity intervention for children with ALL." This award is for a five-year period with a start date of July 1, 2016.

Center for Nursing Research Releases Research Areas of Excellence White Paper

The Center for Nursing Research recently released a white paper entitled "Research Areas of Excellence" prepared by Marilyn Hockenberry, Constance Johnson, Isaac Lipkus, Wei Pan, and Allison Vorderstrasse.

In the 14 page document, the team covers everything from guiding principles, research areas of excellence, clinical innovation, population health and chronic illness, methods and analytics and more.

Five Faculty Members Contribute in Publication of 10th Edition of Pediatric Nursing Textbook

Marilyn Hockenberry, Cheryl Rodgers, Sharron Docherty, Debra Brandon and Brigit Carter contributed to the 10th edition of Wong's Essentials of Pediatric Nursing textbook. Hockenberry served as the senior editor, a role she's had since the sixth edition. Rodgers also served as an editor. Docherty and Brandon contributed to the textbook and Carter was a reviewer for the book.

The textbook is one of the most used pediatric nursing textbooks in the United States and its been translated into many languages.

Broome and Hockenberry Present at SNRS Conference

During the Southern Nursing Research Society (SNRS) conference that took place February 22 to 24, 2017, in Dallas, Texas, Marion E. Broome gave a presentation with five other deans from Southern University entitled “Navigating an Academic Career in a Research Intensive School of Nursing.”  She was also a member of the editor’s panel during the Meet the Editors Networking Session. Marilyn Hockenberry was the keynote speaker for the conference.
