Nancy Crego and Elizabeth "Beth" Merwin publish an article entitled "Differences in Pediatric Non-Interventional Radiology Procedural Sedation Practices and Adverse Events by Registered Nurses and Physicians" in the October issue of the Journal of Pediatric Nursing. The article was co-authored by Dr. Marianne Baernholdt with Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.
Kudos to Nancy Crego for her Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program (AMFDP) submission entitled “Exploring Differences Between African-American & Hispanic Parents' Experiences with Parent/Provider Health Communication in Managing Sickle Cell." This proposal has requested funding for a four-year period with a start date of January 1, 2018.
Two Accelerated Bachelor of Science of Nursing (ABSN) students enter a simulation lab to begin an assessment and treatment of a pediatric patient when the child’s status suddenly changes. As they would in a real-life situation, they summon the on-call provider. Minutes later, the provider, an advanced practice nursing student who knows nothing about the case arrives – but not in the traditional sense.

Michael Cary, Victoria Goode, Nancy Crego, Deirdre Thornlow, Beth Merwin and ABSN alumni Kayla Baba and Scarlet Fellingham recently published an article entitled "Hospital Readmissions among Total Hip Replacement Patients in 2009 and 2014" in the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Co-authors include experts from Durham Veterans Affairs Medical enter and Duke University School of Medicine.
Dr. Crego is a certified pediatric critical care nurse whose clinical experiences include psychiatric nursing, adult trauma, adult critical care, pediatric intensive care, pediatric critical care transport, and pediatric cardiac intensive care. Dr. Crego earned her BSN and her MSN in Nursing Administration at Barry University (Miami, FL), and she earned her PhD in Nursing at the University of Virginia.
