Deadline for new Spring 2020 applicants: July 31, 2019
Late applications will not be considered. Essays must be submitted by the deadline and prior to being admitted to the program.
Prospective students applying to enter the Duke University School of Nursing for the first time in a Master’s degree program who meet eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply. The School will award two scholarships for new Master's students (one to a new fall 2019 student and one to a new spring 2020 student). Scholarships will cover $36,000 of required tuition ($6,000/semester for six semesters). Students must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States to be eligible for consideration.
The purpose of this scholarship program is to provide tuition assistance to outstanding individuals who demonstrate academic achievement, creativity and innovation, exceptional communication skills, and the potential for significant leadership in their professional endeavors. In a narrative (500 words or less, 12 point font, double-spaced), please describe how you meet these criteria and have had a significant and beneficial effect on others. Email your scholarship essay to the DUSON Financial Aid Office. Please include the degree program to which you are applying and the semester you will begin the program (i.e. MSN– Fall 2019).
Students who receive a Duke University School of Nursing Merit Scholarship are expected to remain in good academic standing throughout their program of study and, in collaboration with their Program Director, to contribute to the School in substantive ways.
Eligible newly admitted Master’s degree students who complete the requirements below are considered for need-based scholarship funding.

Newly enrolled Master’s in Nursing Education students who are faculty at a North Carolina community college are eligible to receive the NC Community College Faculty Scholarship. This scholarship, funded by the Duke University School of Nursing, covers 15 percent of the tuition for the MSN-Nursing Education specialty program. Scholarships will be awarded to new students who meet the eligibility requirements.
Must be a faculty member at a North Carolina community college
Must be accepted into the MSN-Nursing Education specialty program
Must begin the program in the 2019-20 academic year
No separate application is required for this scholarship.
Financial Aid Notification
Financial aid notifications for newly admitted students will be emailed within two weeks of acceptance. DUSON need-based scholarship is included in the financial aid notification if eligible. Merit scholarship decisions are emailed prior to the admissions deposit deadline.
