Contributing to the science of nursing innovation
What happens to the inventive ideas of nurses and other practitioners at the front line of patient care? What does a healthcare organization need to do in order to foster grassroots ingenuity and sustain a culture of continuous innovation in patient care? To study these questions and more, the CONCEPT Initiative is leading a research program we call CHIEF for “Continuous Healthcare Innovation & Entrepreneurship Framework.”
The CHIEF research program uses expert consensus to develop, test, and refine an organizational self-assessment survey. This survey instrument is designed to help Chief Nursing Officers and other healthcare leaders identify the strengths and weaknesses of the organizational support structures that they currently have in place for fostering grassroots ingenuity and sustaining a culture of continuous innovation in patient care.
