The 9th Annual Sickle Cell Disease Conference encompasses two virtual sessions on September 24 and 25, 2021 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Session one on September 24 will provide an update on the latest evidence in sickle cell management, including new FDA-approved pharmacological therapies, approaches to curative intent therapy, pain management and iron overload management. Session two on September 25 will focus on living well with sickle cell disease.
This conference is a joint activity between Duke University School of Nursing and University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Sickle Cell Disease Program.
Why Should You Attend?
Sickle cell disease is the most common inherited blood disorder in the United States, affecting approximately 100,000 people. This conference, designed for both health care providers and individuals/ families living with sickle cell disease, will provide an update on the latest evidence in sickle cell management and strategies for living well with sickle cell.
Who Should Attend?
This conference is designed for both health care providers and individuals/ families living with sickle cell disease.
- September 24 will focus on education for health care providers (including nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, therapists, pharmacists, physician assistants, health managers, case managers, sickle cell educators or counselors, physicians and others), community members, and medical and nursing students.
- September 25 will focus on education for individuals and families living with SCD.
We encourage participation from health care providers and individuals with SCD on both days.
