The Duke University School of Nursing will host its Winter 2021 Hooding and Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 11.  

The ABSN Program celebrated its Fall 2020 cohort with a in-person recognition luncheon on Monday, Dec. 6.

At a webinar on November 30, Dean Vincent Guilamo-Ramos addressed how nurses will impact the future of health care and the role of nurses in addressing pressing health and social challenges. His presentation, “Social Determinants of Health,” was the first in the 2021-22 Dean’s Lecture Series and builds upon the Fall 2021 Building Upon Excellence event series geared toward alumni and friends.

Schenita Randolph, associate professor, was an invited panelist at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University's virtual town hall in observance of World AIDS Day on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

This World AIDS Day, leaders at Duke University School of Nursing are in the spotlight—from an invitation from President Joe Biden to Dean Vincent Guilamo-Ramos to participate in a White House event commemorating World AIDS Day—to participation by Associate Dean Michael Relf in a ceremonial ringing of the closing Nasdaq bell at Times Square. 

DUSON is collecting donations for the Ronald McDonald House Charities' The Wishing Tree until Monday, December 13. Donations can be dropped off by the Christmas Tree in the atrium of the Pearson Building. More information can be found on the DUSON website. 

Sigma Beta Epsilon was awarded its first ever prestigious Key Award at the Biennial Meeting in Indianapolis on Sunday, Nov. 7. Kathy Trotter, immediate past president and associate professor, received the award.

Carolina Tennyson, assistant professor, presented the poster "An Interprofessional Approach to Standardizing Family Care during Code Blue Events" during the American Heart Association’s Resuscitation Science Symposium.

Raised in a family of health care professionals, Maritza Ruiz is now carving her own path in the nursing field. While furthering her education at the Duke University School of Nursing, Ruiz, an Air Force reservist, works as an individual mobilization augmentee.

The Duke University School of Nursing Center for Nursing Discovery (CND) has been granted reaccreditation in the area of Teaching/Education by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) and Council for Accreditation of Healthcare Simulation Programs.
