What are the Benefits of Participating?

Past research and evidence show that monitoring and check-ins can help improve hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), blood pressure, and other important health outcomes.

Participating in research will increase our understanding of difficult to control diabetes and high blood pressure. Sharing your data and experiences will help to improve care for other people living with diabetes and high blood pressure. In sharing your data, you become a citizen scientist by contributing to real scientific research.

You will receive four devices (worth ~$300) that connect to your smartphone:

  • Glucometer and 1-2 years of test strips*
  • Blood pressure monitor
  • Body scale
  • Wrist-worn activity-tracker

[*You will receive 3 months of test strips after completing your baseline, 3-month, 6-month, and 9-month visits.]

You will receive $75 for your baseline visit, and $50 for completing each follow-up visit ($375 total).

Check out our past work on self-monitoring here.
