Message from the Director

Welcome to the Duke Health Center for Interprofessional Education and Care (IPEC)!

Mitchell Heflin

I am very excited to introduce to you the IPEC Center with its people, programs and pathways for engaging in interprofessional collaborative practice. This site is designed to provide inspiration and opportunities for the learners and teachers in all of us. While the "real work" of IPEC occurs in classrooms, clinics and communities, this site is intended to build bridges for you across professions and disciplines to improve health and healthcare for the people we serve.

To that end, we are committed to the transformation of the culture of care to one that is collaborative and team-based. Health professions education at Duke will prepare learners to become practice-ready partners providing high quality, team-based care in order to optimize health outcomes for individuals, families and populations. Graduates will be change agents for team-based healthcare in the United States and around the globe.

We look forward to connecting with you!

Mitchell T. Heflin, MD
Associate Dean and Director of the Duke Health Interprofessional Education and Care Center
