Callie Tennyson, DNP, ACNP-BC, AACC, CHSE, joined DUSON’s faculty in 2017. She is now the Director of the Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care program and a Healthcare in Adult Populations Division member. She has a joint appointment with the Duke University Health System and practices in Cardiology and Critical Care Units at Duke University Hospital and Duke Regional Hospital.
Dr. Tennyson earned a BSN at East Carolina University in 2008, an MSN in 2012 from Duke University School of Nursing, and a DNP in 2016 from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She is an Associate of the American College of Cardiology and advocates for Advanced Practice Providers in Critical Care Cardiology. Additionally, she is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator, and she brings this expertise to the AGACNP student experience- simulation is a cornerstone of the on-campus experience at Duke School of Nursing.
Students in the AGACNP major are engaged with creative assignments involving social media, microlearning, and games. Dr. Tennyson also provides leadership roles and opportunities for students to represent the student body and liaison between the AGACNP cohort and the faculty. Her favorite part of teaching is seeing students become her colleagues!
