"10 Questions with..." Takes a Closer Look at a Colleague in Admissions
Welcome back for another issue of "10 Questions with...," where we will learn more about our colleagues... things like how they balance career and their personal life, what music is on their playlist, who they would have dinner with, and more.
Let's get to know Emily Sayed, admissions officer, who has been with DUSON for nine months.
Q: What's the best advice you've ever received?
A: "Just take one day at a time." From my 101-year-old Grandma Helen (pictured above).
Q: What inspires you working at Duke?
A: Being able to help people achieve their educational and professional goals.
Q: What past work experience did you have that helped prepare you for DUSON?
A: My previous work experience in nursing higher education.
Q:What three words would you use to describe DUSON?
A: Elite, Innovative, and Accomplished
Q: How do you balance career and outside life?
A: Self-care. I'm a huge advocate of self-care and make it a priority to help maintain balance in all aspects of my life.
Q: What was your first job?
A: I did co-op in high school and worked as a receptionist in a dental office.
Q: What music is on your playlist?
A: Trina, 30 Seconds to Mars, Taylor Swift, Drake, Halsey, JT, Ginuwine, Lady Gaga, Maroon 5, Britney, and everything in between.
Q: What would you do (for a career) if you weren't doing this?
A: I'd be a personal trainer and health coach.
Q: If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?
A: My Grandpa Al, he passed away three days before I was born.
Q: What is something that most people don't know about you?
A: I'm currently in training for my first bodybuilding competition that takes place next month.
