Congratulations to all of the students who will participate in graduation recognition from Duke University School of Nursing (DUSON) on May 10.

While a formal ceremony is unable to be held this year, outgoing students will be celebrated through Duke’s Marking the Moment: Duke 2020 platform, which will go live on May 10. Duke is planning an in-person ceremony next year in which 2020 graduates will be invited to participate.

This year’s graduates consist of 62 from the ABSN program, 33 from the MSN program, 16 with certificates, 43 from DNP program and nine from PhD program.

The Marking the Moment platform will include videos submitted by students, faculty and staff from across the Duke community in addition to alumni.

DUSON will have its own landing page that will house its submitted messages, including inspiring words from Dean Marion E. Broome, PhD, RN, FAAN, Duke Health Chancellor Dr. A. Eugene Washington and a special message to DUSON students from Duke Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski. Graduates will be able to filter the videos if wanting to search for a certain type of message or topic.

The overall portal will contain videos from Duke President Vincent Price, PhD; Duke Graduate & Professional Student Council President Jay Lusk and comedic actor and Duke Alumni Ken Jeong, who was scheduled to be this year’s guest speaker. There will also be performances and a schedule of live events.

Anyone will be able to access the portal, allowing graduates to enjoy the content with their loved ones.

Congratulations to all of this year’s DUSON graduates! Earning a degree is never an easy feat, and committing to earning it during this uncertain, tumultuous time is even more commendable. Thank you for your determination and bravery.
