2017-2018 Fight the Flu Campaign

Duke Health — which includes Duke University Health System (DUHS) and the schools of nursing and medicine — is committed to reducing the prevalence of the influenza virus within our community. As part of this commitment, obtaining a flu shot is a condition of employment for DUSON faculty, instructors and post-doctoral fellows. In addition, all research staff who will be present in a clinical environment or will have or are likely to have contact with research subjects are also required to be immunized against the flu.

This year, DUSON Flu Fighters will be available to provide flu vaccinations on September 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Rooms 2131 and 2135; and September 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Rooms 2064 and 2070. You are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

For DUSON Employees

The requirement is for all regular rank faculty, clinical instructors, clinical nurse educators, seminar leaders and other part-time instructors and post-doctoral fellows to obtain an annual flu shot. In addition, all research staff who will be present in a clinical environment or will have contact with research subjects in any setting are also required to receive an annual flu shot. Those in each of these categories must receive their flu vaccinations by Wednesday, November 1, 2017.

For DUSON Students

All graduate students are required to obtain an annual flu vaccination no later than Thursday, November 2, 2017. Students in the Accelerated BSN Program are required to submit documentation of a flu vaccination no later than Sunday, October 1, 2017.
