2018 Sickle Cell Disease Conference Recap

On Sept. 7-8, 2018 DUSON hosted the 7th Annual Conference for Patients and Providers, “Educating and Connecting Sickle Cell Patients and Providers.” This conference on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is a multi-disciplinary conference with planning and participation from sickle cell programs from the following institutions: Duke, Atrium Health, UNC-CH, Cone Health, East Carolina University and Virginia Commonwealth University. Over the course of two days, approximately 160 health care providers and educators and 125 patients attended; reaching maximum capacity each day. Topics included a discussion of the newest research in SCD, non-pharmacological approaches to pain management, motivational interviewing and historical trauma. 

Thanks to all who provided assistance with this large event. We feel it was our best conference yet!
