Duke Health — which includes Duke University Health System (DUHS) and the schools of nursing and medicine — is committed to reducing the prevalence of the influenza virus within our community. As part of this commitment, obtaining a flu shot is a condition of employment for ALL DUSON faculty, staff, instructors and post-doctoral fellows. Previously, certain categories of staff were not required to provide evidence of having obtained the vaccination, but this is no longer the case.

Effective this year, flu shots are required of all DUSON employees regardless of whether or not they would be present in a clinical setting, or come into contact with patients or research subjects. Deadline for employees and graduate students to obtain an annual flu vaccination or submit exemptions is Tuesday, November 5, 2019 and ABSN students have until Tuesday, October 15, 2019.

Flu Vaccination Dates & Locations

Faculty, staff, and students can participate in the DUSON Flu Fighters Clinic, which will be held in room 2070 in the Pearson Building.

• DUSON Flu Fighters Clinics (Pearson Room 2070)

  • ​Tuesday, October 1; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Wednesday, October 2; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition, faculty and staff can visit Employee Occupational Health & Wellness or attend a roving clinic for flu shots beginning September 19, 2019. No appointment is necessary.
