3rd Annual North Carolina Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Symposium
Duke Cancer Institute and UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC will hold its third annual North Carolina Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Symposium, in collaboration with Wake Forest Baptist Health and UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center on Friday, April 24, 2020, at the NC Biotechnology Headquarters Hamner Conference Center in Research Triangle Park. The theme this year is "Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer: Survivorship."
The symposium will bring together multidisciplinary providers and researchers from across the state who are interested in improving care for this patient population. With a focus on the unique survivorship needs of AYAs in North Carolina, this knowledge-based symposium will feature a mix of didactic lectures and panel discussions.
Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

Distinguish outcomes for AYAs from those of older adults and

children diagnosed with cancer.

Examine unique opportunities and challenges related to conducting research in this age-defined population.

Describe the concept of risk-based cancer survivorship care for the AYA cancer survivor.

Discuss the roles of the oncologist, primary care provider, and the survivor.
