Alumna Virginia Lang, an  emeritus member of the Nursing Alumni Council and current chairperson of the Nearly New Shoppe, recently received the Charles A. Duke Award for Volunteer Service for her leadership in the Nearly New Shop which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for scholarships for nursing students throughout the years.

The award honors alumni volunteers who serve in Duke leadership roles and have devoted themselves to extraordinary, long-term efforts that help Duke further its mission. Lane was one of five award winners.

The Nearly New Shoppe is the Duke thrift store funded by a group of Duke Health faculty spouses to fund student scholarships.
