Applications Open for 2019 mHealth Training Institute at UCLA

Applications are now being accepted for the 2019 mHealth Training Institute (mHTI) to be held at the UCLA Luskin Conference Center from July 28 until Aug. 2, 2019. The goal of the week-long immersion program is to foster the competencies and collaborations required to tackle "wicked" health care problems with mHealth approaches. The mHTI uses a blended learning approach that combines "deep dives" into the latest mHealth methodologies with collaborative team-science projects to develop compelling transdisciplinary mHealth solutions.

The 2019 mHTI builds on the success of previous mHTIs. Scholars from earlier institutes have highlighted a wide range of benefits, describing the mHTI as "transformative" and "a seminal experience in my professional development" with a "wonderful atmosphere and congeniality among scholars" and "terrific and generous faculty." Independent post-institute surveys typically garner the highest ratings in terms of scholar satisfaction. Details of previous mHealth Training Institutes including scholars, faculty and programs are available here.

Application:

The mHTI is underwritten by an NIH/OBSSR/NIDA training grant (1R25DA038167) and supported by the NIH Center for Excellence on Mobile Sensor Data-to-Knowledge (MD2K). It derives from a core of experienced faculty mentors; academic thought-leaders dedicated to developing the next generation of mHealth scientists. Due to the intensive and team-science nature of the mHTI, participation is limited to 30 scholars. Scholars are required to commit to attending all days of the mHTI as well as the pre-mHTI conference calls. There is no tuition and the selected scholars will be provided with lodging at the UCLA Luskin Conference Center.
