Attention Duke Health Professions Students

Cyberincivility—defined as disrespectful, insensitive, or disruptive behavior in cyberspace—is a growing concern for students, educators, and the public. The aim of this survey is to identify needs for the development of interprofessional cybercivility training for students in the medical, nursing, physician assistant, and physical therapy programs at Duke University. This survey asks for demographic data as well as your knowledge, experiences, and perceptions about cybercivility.

Participation is voluntary, and you have the right to withdraw your consent or discontinue participation at any time without penalty. Your responses will be anonymous, and survey data including your personal information will be protected and stored on the Duke’s multi-factor authentication secure server. Privacy cannot be guaranteed, but any information obtained will be accessible only to the Principal Investigator and the Duke-based research team.     The survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete, and the deadline to complete the survey is April 24, 2017. You will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for one of ten $50 gift cards. You will also be directed to a separate website where you will enter your contact information and indicate whether you wish be contacted for a one-on-one virtual interview and/or a focus-group web-conference. If you have any questions, please contact Research Assistant Sandy Yamane, MSN, MS, RN at sandra.yamane@duke.edu or Principal Investigator Jennie De Gagne, PhD, DNP, RN-BC, CNE, ANEF at jennie.degagne@duke.edu.      For questions about your rights as a research participant, or to discuss problems, concerns or suggestions related to the research, or to obtain information or offer input about the research, contact the Duke University Health System Institutional Review Board (IRB) Office at (919) 668-5111.

Thank you for taking time to consider participating in this important study.

Kindly,   The Research Team
