Be a Point of Pride at DUSON!

DUSON Diversity and Inclusion Champions for Equity are members of the DUSON community ready to be agents of change within divisions and offices within our school.  Diversity and Inclusion Champions for Equity will be trained, coached, and provided tools to work in partnership with the DUSON Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI).  Diversity and Inclusion Champions for Equity are ambassadors of the framework of strategies that guides the work of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. They are essential to the dissemination and practice of initiatives to foster a more inclusive campus community by increasing diversity awareness, access, equity, and inclusion throughout DUSON.

Champions Criteria

A member of the DUSON Community for a minimum of one year. Willing to commit to one year of service as Champion.  Willingness to commit to attending equity, diversity, and/or inclusivity training and/or professional development once every semester.  Be a role model in the DUSON community, upholding DUSON’s core values.

Champions Expectations 

1.         Actively promote, raise awareness of diversity and inclusion issues.

2.         Bridge communications between divisions, departments or offices and ODI.

3.         Support and encourage engagement of ODI initiatives.

4.         Share and promote best practices with the support of ODI Team.

5.         Recommend processes and procedures that are in alignment with the work of the ODI.

6.         Share recommendations with the ODI that will improve engagement within DUSON and DUSON affiliates. 

7.         Foster positive relationships between all staff, faculty and students through promotion of ODI related events and/or training.

For example, recommending training needs with the ODI team, creating Diversity calendar events, posting signage for upcoming events, and encouraging department members to participate in workshops and training sponsored and co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. 

Application Process

Complete brief online application, submitting a short description of your specific goal(s) as a Diversity and Inclusion Champions for Equity within your division, department, or office at DUSON.  Goal statements to reflect the importance of diversity, inclusivity and equity, within DUSON.

Champion application review will begin on July 1, 2019.  Notifications distributed following the July 17 ODI Advisory Board Meeting.
