Call for Entries: 2019 Merritt Science Journalism Award Competition

Great discoveries and innovations in science, medicine and engineering can go unnoticed unless we tell the world about the work we’ve done. Science journalism helps gets the word out.

The Richard Merritt Jr. Award for Excellence in Science Journalism was established in 2013 to recognize Duke students who are passionate about communicating science—whether it’s through feature articles, blog posts, video, infographics or podcasts.

If you published a journalistic work during 2018 focused on explaining scientific research to a general audience, we encourage you to enter the competition. The deadline is Feb. 15, 2019.

A $500 award will be presented to the winner at a celebratory dinner held in the spring in conjunction with the university’s Melcher Award and Futrell Award programs.
