Call for Nominations: 2018 Research Mentoring Awards
All faculty and trainees are invited to nominate research mentors in the Schools of Medicine and Nursing who exemplify the traits honored by this award. To be eligible, the nominated faculty member must be at the Associate Professor level or above (regular rank). Nominations may come from individuals or groups; self-nominations will not be accepted.
Submit nominations by Feb. 1 electronically to facdev@dm.duke.edu, nominations should include:
- Cover Sheet
- Name of nominee and category of nomination: basic science department, clinical science research or translational research
- Letters of nomination
- Describe your nominee's effectiveness as a research mentor and include examples of mentoring that set him/her apart from others. The strongest nominations will have three to five letters of support.
The Research Mentoring Awards recognize faculty members in the Schools of Medicine and Nursing for excellence in research mentoring. Excellence can be demonstrated in many ways such as by the accomplishments of individual mentees, by programs implemented by the mentor, or by exceptional creativity in mentoring.
Three winners will be recognized each year, one from a basic science department, one in clinical science research, and one in translational research. Clinical department faculty who conduct basic science research will be considered for the latter two categories. Each winning mentor will receive a monetary prize and recognition during the annual Schools of Medicine and Nursing Spring Faculty Meeting.
