Call for Proposals: Faculty Educational Research Grants

The Institute for Educational Excellence is accepting proposals for the 2020-2021 DUSON Faculty Educational Research Grants, now through December 15. IEE developed this programs to support and encourage excellence and innovation in teaching. Nursing faculty can develop, implement, and evaluate educational research with support from the IEE, both in kind support as well as financial support. Options for grants include research studies, QI education studies, and systematic and other reviews. Applicants must complete all components of the grant application per the Requirements Checklist by the deadline to be considered.

Grants funding: $250 - $2,500 (3/4 of funds deposited upon grant approval; final ¼ deposited upon completion of all deliverables). Funds may not be used for teaching reduction.       

Length of grant: One year with potential opportunity for extension up to one additional year
Deliverables: Concrete, specified deliverables at the end of the grant cycle (Examples include but are not limited to publications, podium and/or poster presentations)
Meetings: Monthly meetings with IEE Director during the entire grant cycle
Eligibility:

  • Applicants for this grant must have been faculty at the School of Nursing for at least 2 years

  • Proposed studies must be clearly focused on advancing the science of nursing education

  • The proposal must be submitted electronically by a specified deadline. Incomplete proposals or proposals submitted after this time will not be accepted for review.

  • Applications must adhere to requirements for format, content, length limitations, and necessary supporting materials as outlined in the guidelines

  • Upon completion of the study, grantees are expected to submit a final report to the IEE

  • Grantees will complete all required deliverables prior to the final deposit of funds

**Former IEE grant recipients may apply again every 3 years

**Grantees may not be simultaneously receiving another grant for the same project/ study.

Application Requirements Checklist  
 
All applicants must include the following in the online application package:  
 
1. 3-page proposal that includes the following:   

  • Title            

  • Background (including Significance)            

  • Aim(s) of your study (and Research Questions if relevant)

  • Methods (Design, Sample/Setting, Measures/Tools, Procedures, and Data Analysis)

  • Timeline with projected completion date 

  • Dissemination plan.  

2. Budget and Budget Narrative: Provide an itemized budget regarding your intention to use the grant monies. Be sure that each line item on the budget is clearly justified in narrative portion.  
 
3. Letters of Recommendation: provide 1-2 letter/s of recommendation (including support from Division Chair). A second letter in support of your application is optional.
 
4. Bio-sketch or Curriculum Vitae
