Center for Nursing Discovery Welcomes Convoy, Promotes Parker

ParkerThe Center for Nursing Discovery welcomes Dana W. Convoy as the new part time clinical nurse educator and Tiffiany Parker as the new Simulation Technology Specialist. 

Convoy is also a Commander in the United States Navy Reserve with 9 years of active duty experience and almost 11 years of reserve service. She has completed 2 missions for the Navy in her specialty as a certified Emergency Trauma Nurse. She first deployed with the USNS Comfort to South America in support of the Navy’s humanitarian mission, Operation Continuing Promise. Then she deployed to NATO Role 3 Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She has worked many emergency rooms across the US Navy to include Camp Lester Okinawa Japan, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Virginia, Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune, Naval Hospital Jacksonville Florida, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.  She has also worked as a Post Anesthesia Care Unit nurse at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Most recently, she has taught at a local community college as lead instructor for a CNA II program where she realized her interest in becoming a facilitator of learning. Dana is also a student herself at Liberty University pursuing a master’s in nursing education. She brings her military experience, talents and servant spirit to the students and staff at Duke’s School of Nursing with a humbled heart.

Many have benefited from Parker’s expertise since joining DUSON in 2013. She has been a Staff Assistant for five years in the Healthcare of Women & Children’s Division. She first started out in the CND as a temp and she’s looking forward to being back at what she considers, the heartbeat of the school.
