The Center for Nursing Discovery (CND) is joining the global celebration of Healthcare Simulation Week presented by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. Healthcare Simulation is a learning tool that recreates a healthcare environment to allow learners to experience a realistic healthcare event. The purpose of healthcare simulation is to teach new skills, refresh old ones and improve the delivery of safe and effective patient care.

Please join our celebration of Healthcare Simulation Week at the CND Nurse’s station in the Pearson Building (2nd floor):

• Monday, September 13, 12-1 p.m.: Welcome home! Please help us name our two newest manikin members of our CND family. Winner will receive an awesome prize! Additionally, you will get a chance to interact with our pediatric manikin, Taylor, who will wow you with their amazing communication abilities.
• Tuesday, September 14, 12-1 p.m.: Telepresence has been extremely helpful for all of us during the pandemic. Come and see how DUSON and the CND has shifted to virtual learning.  We will have our telepresence robot cruising the Nurse’s station. We will also show you how our students see vital signs using Laerdal software when doing simulation virtually.
• Wednesday, September 15, 12-1 p.m.: Ever heard the song “Staying Alive”? Come check out how this is important to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). We will have several manikins out to practice compressions on. It’s harder than it looks!   
• Thursday, September 16, 12-1 p.m.: Our birthing manikin, Victoria, just got back from a socially distanced beach trip. She made it back to the CND just in time. Come by and help her Certified Nurse Midwife deliver her baby. Additionally, try on one of our empathy bellies to see how it feels to be pregnant!   
• Friday, September 17, 12-1 p.m.: What is the most used item in the CND? Our blood pressure arms! We also have a new vein finder you can try. Come by the CND to put your skills to the test!
