CNR: New Small Grants Calls
October 10, 2017
New Center for Nursing Research small grant calls for the fall!
- POPULATION HEALTH Due December 1, 2017
- This call focuses on DUSON faculty pilot research that supports population health improvement efforts. Grant applications that focus on addressing the “third curve” of population health improvement – behavioral, socioeconomic, and environmental determinants of health that are often overlooked in health care – will be prioritized (Washington, Coye & Boulware, 2016). Preference will also be given to projects that reflect the highest potential for success in providing preliminary data for external grant proposals from NIH, PCORI, CDC, RWJF, and other external sources of funding for population health research. Grant awards will be up to $20,000, except if they include a strong focus on community-engaged approach; the Community Engagement Core of the Duke Clinical and Translational Science Institute is collaborating with the DUSON Center for Nursing Research to provide an additional $10,000 for a total of $30,000 in pilot funding for a team that includes a strong community-academic partnership. (See attached RFA for more details)
- GENERAL CALL FOR PILOT STUDIES Due December 1, 2017
- This RFA focuses on bringing together collaborative research teams to address novel, current and innovative research in the Research Areas of Excellence in the DUSON Strategic Plan. The Research Areas of Excellence (RAEs) include: methods and analytics, clinical innovation, precision health, and population health. The goal of the Small Grant Pilot funding program is to provide study funding for faculty who need pilot data or collaboration and partnership building. Successful pilot applications must clearly demonstrate how results will lead to an NIH R-level or equivalent grant submission. We strongly encourage faculty to submit proposals that either create new partnerships or leverage existing teams of researchers from Nursing, Medicine, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, and community partners, among others. Funding may be requested up to a limit of $20,000. (See attached RFA for more details)
- DUSON/DUHS PHD AND DNP COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH PROJECTS Due December 1, 2017
- Funding for this mechanism is to promote research collaboration between PhD and DNP prepared DUSON faculty and nurses involved in research in the DUHS. Applicants must be submitted as multiple principal investigators (PIs) representing both the DNP and PhD roles. The multiple PIs can both be from DUSON or one can be from DUSON and the DUHS. However, the application must include research team collaborators from both DUSON and the DUHS. The research grant should reflect an important clinical question that promotes scientific inquiry. Funding may be requested up to a limit of $20,000. (See attached RFA for more details)
Applications should be submitted electronically via MyResearchProposal
