D-CHIPP Staff Affiliation Now Accepting Applications

DUSON Community Health Improvement Partnership Program (D-CHIPP) is accepting applications for staff affiliation. If you are wondering what it means to be and what is expected from a D-CHIPP affiliate, here are some guidelines:

D-CHIPP Affiliates are faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members who are passionate and committed to improving the health of individuals and families living in the local community and who wish to collaborate or partner with D-CHIPP.

Criteria. Individuals seeking affiliation should demonstrate:

  • An interest in community and/or population health;
  • Participation in any of the following: community health research, education, service, advocacy or policy initiative, including mentoring students on community health fieldwork or research, teaching a course or implementing a health improvement program implementation in the community; and / or
  • Support for or contribution to the initiatives of D-CHIPP in the community.

Benefits. Benefits for D-CHIPP staff affiliates include:   

  • Access of D-CHIPP resources and staff to assist in workshop development/meeting planning;
  • Eligibility to apply for small grant opportunities to benefit community health with oversight by faculty mentor or affiliate; and
  • Opportunity to engage in Durham and surrounding community health organizations in a volunteer position as a representative of D-CHIPP.

Expectations. Staff affiliates of D-CHIPP are expected to:

  • Include D-CHIPP affiliation on CVs, resumes, bios, community-engaged research funded by D-CHIPP, news releases regarding that research or D-CHIPP involved events, jointly planned workshops/ meetings, and other internal or external communications;
  • Attend at least one D-CHIPP event per year (held throughout the year);
  • Share relevant funding opportunities, events, news, and training events with the D-CHIPP coordinator to be included with regular affiliate communications; and
  • Complete yearly D-CHIPP affiliate satisfaction survey.

Application. The application process is as follows:

  • Prepare a brief paragraph of experience and / or interest in community health and goals for affiliation and submit via survey for review. Applications will be reviewed quarterly.
  • Periodic review of affiliate eligibility will take place to ensure active involvement.
