jennie de gagne headshot Jennie De Gagne, professor, received the certificate of completion for the Instructional Designer Course 4: Course Quality Review (January 11 – February 7, 2021). This certificate has permitted her to became an OLC Course Quality Review (OSCQR) Trainer (issued by Online Learning Consortium).

The series of four online courses are designed to support the development of competency, expertise, and skills in new and experienced online instructional designers, librarians, and multimedia specialists who work with online faculty and other online learning support professionals. In this course, participants were introduced to the OLC and Open SUNY Course Quality Review (OSCQR) rubric and process, discussing its pedagogical and research foundations, and reviewing its course quality review standards and associated criteria. To obtain the certification, participants are to complete a formal course review using OSCQR and to recommend improvements and institutional implementation strategies while creating a customized version of the OSQCR rubric to address the course quality needs that could be used at their own institutions.

A total of 12 participants were in this particular cohort, and the course was offered all online with one synchronous session. The workload was about eight to 10 hours a week to participate in learning activities (reading 30-50 pages on various topics, associated reading activities, weekly discussions, etc.).
